For over a week now, we've been watching a tropical storm in the Carribbean. These storms so rarely end up being much of a threat and often fizzle out before its much to speak of.
Well a few days back it was named Hurricane Matthew and although it seemed relatively small as a Category 2 storm, it has now impressed everyone with up to a Category 4 status.  Its hit Haiti and the Dominican, Cuba, the Bahamas and all the recent models show it hitting Florida and following the coast north to come ashore in South Carolina.
While getting my hair done yesterday, the locals were talking about where they were going for the weekend.  And at 3:00 pm the Governor issued an evacuation of the coast, closing all schools for the next 6 days.
The batteries, water, etc are sold out in many stores and guests of the Margate are packing and checking out at all hours of the day and night.
Todd and Annie will fly out safely Wednesday evening, with the storm predicted for Friday / Saturday.  We will watch the storm trackers for one more day to make sure but will likely be evacuating as well.
We had planned to host Uncle Roger and Aunt Gretchen here at the beach this weekend, but if we need to evacuate, we will join them at their home in Raleigh instead.
