Day 3 - Northport, MI

We woke up around 8:00 am and took an easy morning.  The lake and weather both look good throughout the day today so we aren't rushed.  Scott and Sammy walked to town to get breakfast while Tyler took a shower and I worked on church stuff.

We left our slip at 10:45a and were passing the pier by 10:55a.  The weather is currently 64* partly cloudy skies with a 9mph N wind.  Lake Michigan is gorgeous with 1-2' swells.  We ramped up to our cruising speed and headed north.

The ride up is gorgeous with the sand dunes and islands just off shore.  Sammy sat outside with me and enjoyed the sun.  Tyler got caught up on some grading for work.

Around noon, I grilled some sandwiches for our lunch.  It was challenging to do while underway but definitely worth it!

Northport is located just on the inside of the tip of the pinky finger of Michigan.  It is beautiful with clean, clear water and calm seas.  We've never been before and are looking forward to this gem!

We pulled up to the gas dock at 1:35p for fuel and a pump out.  And just had to move one spot over for our slip for the night.  We were tied off and settled in slip 14 by 2:05p.  As the guys hooked up our electric and water, Sammy and I took Coco for a walk.

The guys met us on the dock and we headed into town to see what Northport has to offer.  We grabbed some ice cream and visited the Tom's grocery store (Yay!) and then headed back to the boat to spend the afternoon aboard.  We opened the windows and sliders and pulled out the sunshade and just enjoyed the views.

Tyler had to work and Jen had a class meeting this evening so we decided to grab an early supper.  We walked to Around the Corner Food & Fun.  It was a quirky restaurant with a walk up counter that sent your order to a food truck outside who then delivered to your table.  The food was pretty good if you like deep-fried appetizers and burgers.

After dinner we split up and while Sammy and I headed back to the boat, Tyler and Scott stopped in a few stores and found a big tree.  "Can you imagine what this area would have looked like when this guy was planted?"

After my class, I came upstairs to find Scott sitting on the back sunpad enjoying the quiet evening.  It is gorgeous and without a hint of wind, the water of Grand Traverse Bay is truly like glass.  We enjoyed the cool night air before calling it a night.
