Day 2 in Ludington

Well, our suspicions were accurate and the wind continue to strengthen overnight and into the morning.  By the time we finished breakfast, the winds were strong and we decided to wait another day to travel.

There is no one out on the water today (except the Badger).  No visits to the gas dock, no one moving in and out of the marina.  But it is a sunny day and we are enjoying our time together.

I warmed up breakfast sandwiches (sausage, egg and cheese on an english muffin) this morning then we all settled down to work on our own stuff.  Tyler watched some shows on YouTube.  Sammy worked on writing her book.  Scott caught up on the news and I finished some reading and quizes for my school work.

By late morning, Scott and I notified the harbor master of our intent to stay one more night, grabbed some ice to refresh the coolers and took the dog for a walk.  Sammy made a lot of progress on her laptop and eventually the boys transitioned to watching a documentary on WW2 tanks.

I made chicken squares for lunch trying to prioritize using up the ingredients that take up the most space in cold storage.  Right now our mini-fridge is filled to the gills, we converted our ice maker to hold some meat as a freezer and I have a cooler with ice for the rest.  Am hoping to get through enough of the food quickly to get the ice maker back but we will see.

Scott cleaned up the dishes and then we took Coco for a walk into town.

Of course, we made a stop at House of Flavors and met a couple from FL who have a 56' Tiara that they take to the Bahamas.

After we got back on board, the kids convinced us to watch a TV show and while they giggled and watched, I took a little nap.  After that, Sammy and I headed to the clubhouse to take showers.  We do have two heads on board but Sammy's hair is so long it just takes too much time to get all the soap out.  So, we leave use the provided showers and have a pretty stringent grading system.  These were adequate and clean but not overly nice... The water pressure was good and hot but the airflow in the open space kept you feeling pretty chilly.  There were 4 separate showers to choose from but we could talk between so it worked well for us but wouldn't offer privacy were it crowded.

When we returned, Scott had found a local restaurant for dinner.  We visited the Ludington Bay Brewery and had an excellent meal.  Scott had the lobster roll, Tyler the french dip sandwich, Sammy had chicken wings and loaded fries and I had a pub steak.  We sat outside on the patio and enjoyed everything about our meal together including the riveting game of Ticket to Ride that we played together on our phones.  For the first time ever we all ended within 7 points of each other and there was a three-way tie for the win.  Amazing!

When we got back to the boat, Tyler got started on a computer game and Sammy went back to work on her book while Jen and Scott took Coco for a walk to the post office to drop off some outgoing mail.

Afterwards Jen and Scott enjoyed a cup on coffee on the stern of the boat watching the sun set over the harbor.

It was a gorgeous day.  But we are looking forward to getting back out on the water tomorrow.  We have reservations in Charlevoix which is a full 120 miles north.  We hope to get an earlier start and enjoy the time on the lake as its supposed to be pretty calm out there.
