Stopped at church and picked up Katie by 8:10... We were on our way!
The drive to Detroit lasted 2.5 hours and was very smooth. We parked and waited for the shuttle to pick us up. When walking through the airport we used the people movers... You know the conveyer belts that help you move faster. But when we got to the end, Sammy (who was at the front of the line) couldn't navigate the end with her luggage and fell right over. I hopped over the mess and tried to help but the conveyer belt continued to push the line of people toward us. It was hillarious as we watched the domino effect that ensued. But sweet Sammy got up, dusted herself off and pressed on :)
We checked our bags and made it through security with only a few delays. Sammy was growing quite impatient so I was particularly grateful that a TSA rep opened a new line just for us to go through.
We had been promising Sammy lunch so as soon as we finished with security we rounded the corner only to see a McDonalds calling to us... Those Golden Arches never shined so bright! So burgers and nuggets it was for lunch.
Our gate was almost literally next door so we headed over and began boarding almost instantly.
The flight was good... A little bumpy but my travel companions were rock stars! Sammy earned three toys for good behavior throughout the flight.
Tyler spent the entire time trying out his new games on his IPad.
We arrived right on time and grabbed our luggage and rental van. We decided to wait on groceries and instead rush to the condo to get out and see that beautiful ocean. So we grabbed a snack at Steak and Shake and continued to the Margate.
We dropped off the luggage, said a quick hello to Uncle Roger, Aunt Gretchen, Dean and Jenny and headed down to dip our toes in the water. It was 4:00ish when we finally made it...
We spent some time on the beach. Katie and I waded out to our knees but soon found our clothes drenched! Oops... Too much fun.
Next we hit the pool and hot tub. While at the pool, Tyler spotted a paper airplane floating down from the 27th floor. Never would we imagine that he could actually catch it... but HE DID!! The hotel guests standing on their balconies erupted in cheers! This kid was SO excited!
After showers, we decided to head out for supper and grab groceries. We went to Wal-Mart thinking it would be a quick trip with four of us shopping but BOY were we wrong! It was total chaos!
After the most stressful grocery trip of all time, we grabbed take out from Olive Garden and headed back to the condo to eat.
Finally whack home, we welcomed the Adema family for brownies and ice cream (waiting for us at check-in... Thanks Gretchen).
We have Daddy a call and headed to bed around 10:30 pm... We will all sleep well tonight!
